Abstract
Functional appliance is often used for treatment of growing patients. If we can understand the device design and treatment mechanism of functional appliance, it can be applied to adult patients. The following text would review the functional matrix theory and composition of functional appliance, especially for the bionator. Finally, a case will be reported.
